Aspen Snowmass Ski Resort in Colorado

by

In Aspen, skiers will find nearly 5,300 acres of terrain between Snowmass, Aspen Mountain (Ajax), Aspen Highlands, and Buttermilk. This would be four separate vacations anyplace else but not in Aspen. Apart from its skiing, Aspen is known for its endless dining options, vibrant nightlife, and extensive shopping. It provides enough motivation to explore one of the most well-known and intriguing ski destinations globally.

Aspen Snowmass Ski Resort Overview

What is the location of Aspen Snowmass?

Aspen Snowmass Ski Resort is more difficult to get than other Colorado resorts, but it is well worth the effort. The ski region is around four hours from Denver and about an hour and a half from Eagle County Regional Airport. You may also fly into the Aspen/Pitkin County Airport (ASE), three miles from downtown Aspen. If you wish to ski in several places, you may take a shuttle or bus between Aspen and Snowmass.

Snowmass Ski Resort

The name is an excellent description of a magnificent ski mountain. Snowmass is blanketed in beautiful Colorado snow and large enough to accommodate every sort of terrain, from tranquil to severe. At Aspen Snowmass, twenty fast lifts (but seldom lift queues) whisk you to more than 3,300 acres of snowsports paradise, with 98 trails totaling 150 kilometers ranging from cruisers to cliff bands and three terrain parks and pipes.

Seven on-mountain eateries provide places to relax and recuperate, which you’ll need following five-mile treks. According to Chris Davenport, World Extreme Skiing Champion (and local), “Snowmass has some of the best steeps, cliffs, couloirs, backcountry, terrain parks, and powder anywhere in North America.”

You won’t have to spend time going to the slopes since 95% of Snowmass accommodation is ski-in/ski-out. All the time you save will be needed for everything they offer, such as award-winning ski school programs, on-mountain concerts, snowcat supper rides, family-friendly eating, races and contests, and a hundred other events.

Aspen Trail Map

Located just above the town of Aspen, Aspen Mountain, sometimes called Ajax locally, has slopes ranging from moderate. It’s not the spot for inexperienced skiers. The ratings for difficulty are as follows: expert (26%), more tough (26%), and intermediate (48%). There are 675 acres and 76 runs to discover.

Aspen’s Best Ski Resorts

Aspen evokes memories of a legendary ski resort recognized as a winter playground for the affluent and famous. Although part of the “Aspen Pledge” is to “forego high fashion and dress for high elevations,” most people are expected to make some enormous fashion statement. Researching the best ski resorts in Colorado is indispensable for a stunning adventure. Aspen is world-recognized as a premium ski region. Still, it is also a location with outdoor experiences ranging from skiing to bicycling and a love for arts and culture.

Little Nell’s

The Little Nell, Aspen’s most opulent ski-in/ski-out resort, provides exceptional service and unrivaled access to America’s iconic mountain town. The Little Nell, a Relais & Châteaux hotel, offers guests a sophisticated but private atmosphere, exquisite cuisine, and special excursions and facilities to refresh the mind, body, and soul.

The Gantt chart

The Gant is one of Aspen’s top condominium resorts, combining home amenities with the facilities of a good hotel in a world-class setting. The Gant provides visitors with everything they would expect from a world-class resort, from iconic ski lodges, “Gant Vans,” and daily cleaning services to attentive concierges and leisure amenities. The Gant is Aspen’s first full-service condominium complex with on-site food and beverage service at Pepper Jack’s Cafe.

Restaurants and Dining on the Mountain

The word “mass” in Aspen Snowmass refers to a variety of things: big terrain, significant amounts of snow, and tremendous quantities of food. Quality cuisine is always within reach on the mountain, whether you’re searching for a quick bowl of chili to warm you up or a sophisticated European-style meal to last two hours. The seven eateries listed below may be found throughout the mountain.

The Alpine Room

The Alpin Room’s food is approachable but sophisticated, a delicate, tasty artisanal reimagining of Alsatian home cooking. Enjoy a taste of France in the heart of Snowmass Village.

The Alpine Room, located at 10,486 feet at the summit of Snowmass’ Alpine Springs lift, welcomes guests to taste a new take on Alps-inspired cuisine in a high alpine environment. Set in a mountain setting, sit down for a dining experience that combines comfort and refinement, serving French, Swiss, and Austrian dishes with contemporary twists.

Elk Lodge

Elk Camp elevates informal on-mountain meals by offering house-made organic local alternatives. Take a break from the mountain and enjoy a tasty grass-fed beef burger at this breathtaking location.

Its architecture is influenced by the nearby Rocky Mountains, with an elegant, curving roof and stone columns. Cozy next to the fireplace with a hearty bowl of grass-fed beef stew and toasty cornbread, or build your salad from fresh greens, organic veggies, and house-made dressings. Rotisserie, panini, hand-tossed pizzas, and a bakery are other options available at different stations. Dining al fresco on the terrace is an excellent option in bright summer or winter.

Sam’s

Sam’s serves a generous meal of house-made Rigatoni Bolognese with beautiful vistas between gorgeous powder twists. The restaurant atop Sam’s Knob now has the most incredible views in ski country, whether staring through the plate glass or simply looking down at your plate, thanks to a multi-million-dollar renovation.

Enter the bright and lovely dining room and linger over exquisite wines, antipasti, house-made pasta, and a delectable selection of mindfully prepared meals. In the afternoon, order the famous Negroni Spritz beverage from the expansive bar and take in the scenery from the best seat in Snowmass.

Winter Recreation

The slopes are for more than just skiers. The following winter activities may provide thrills—or a little peace—for people of all ages and abilities.

In the winter, the Breathtaker Alpine Coaster

Look no further than the Breathtaker Alpine Coaster for off-slope winter thrills. Riders will go through nearly a mile of woodland at up to 28mph on an elevated track. Riders and passengers can enjoy the exhilarating ride throughout the day and on special Ullr Nights close to the Elk Camp Restaurant.

Reservations are necessary—purchase in person at any ticket office, online, or by phone at 866-857-8769. Winter events are weather-dependent and may be canceled. Click here to see the current activity status. Tickets for winter activities are non-transferable.

Tubing

Aspen Snowmass is excited to provide tubing facilities at Snowmass this winter. The lift-served lanes are cut into The Meadows at Elk Camp, and lighting facilities illuminate the runs at night during the Ullr Nights celebrations.

Dinner Rides on Snowcats

Aspen and Snowmass Village’s diverse eating scenes could keep even the most committed foodies entertained for weeks. But two of the area’s most renowned dining restaurants are out of town – they’re on the mountain.
