The Ritz-Carlton South Beach provides world-class service.

This 5-star hotel on the beach in the city’s Art Deco neighborhood has On-site dining, Mediterranean and Latin American cuisine, and a full-service spa. Rooms include a minibar. The Ritz-Carlton South Beach’s guest rooms have marble bathrooms. There is also a work desk and a laptop safe. Day beds surround the outdoor pool and overlook the Atlantic Ocean. Fuego y Mar serves Latin American cuisine, and the beachside DiLido Beach Club serves Mediterranean cuisine.

The Ritz-Carlton South Beach, one of a string of hotels on Miami’s famous beachfront

Provides a refined break from the area’s pool parties and ’til-the-sun-rises nightlife while affording easy access to the city’s most excellent restaurants, a superb lobby bar scene, and ocean views. Set the stage: With its superb South Beach location, the Ritz-Carlton is smack in the thick of things. The crowd is a mix of nicely dressed business travelers, vacationing couples, and a few families with children who are on a different wavelength than the hundreds of people club-hopping around each night (for the most part).

Though the hotel opened in 1953, it had a $90 million refurbishment just before the pandemic and was only open for a few months before COVID-19 struck. The experience, like most Ritz-Carltons, is consistently excellent.  The service is excellent, the decor is upscale and modern while alluding to the destination, the amenities are amazing, and the location is terrific. White walls and linens contrast with deep cerulean blue furniture a velvet bed frame, velvety chaise and mid-century-style details like bronze reading lights and caned armchairs. The beautiful Atlantic out the window is the show’s real star in the ocean-view rooms and suites, which make up the bulk of the room categories, as it should be.

Food and beverages

On a night when you need a break from making plans out and about, pop down for a beverage followed by dinner (and possibly another cocktail) at the Lapidus lobby bar, and the ambiance is similar at casual restaurant Fuego y Mar on the pool deck. At Fuego y Mar, choose zesty Latin American meals like Mexican-style ceviche and Peruvian-style crudos; at Lapidus, get rum-based cocktails. Local flavors are treated with attention here.

The health spa

A full-service pampering establishment offering everything from a manicure and hair salon to facials and body treatments. Facials feature the luxurious Natura Bisse brand and an expensive “Diamond Luminous” treatment. The spa recently debuted treatments in the “Timeless Capsule,” an elliptical chamber meant to condense spa treatments and is excellent for customers with limited time.

The surrounding area

South Beach is exactly how you remember it: a swirl of fancy automobiles, locals working out at all hours of the day, and tanned, manicured visitors strutting down Collins Avenue and Ocean Drive. Chef-led favorites like Los Fuegos in the Faena are nearby, as are must-make reservations at New York City imports Carbone and Lucali. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg in these parts.

The service is as follows

Everyone from the front desk to the bartenders is attentive and proactive, anticipating your next step and making it more accessible. Do you need a suit pressed quickly? They’ve got your back. Do you want to modify your plans to coincide with a rainy day? Someone is working on it. The club level also seems like a club, with rapidly known faces and staff on hand to bring you a drink of champagne or an afternoon espresso.

Accessibility

This vast complex includes elevators and ramps, but circling some foyer steps can feel like a corn maze. Is there anything further to say? If you’re in Miami, the ocean-view rooms are a must, but be warned: if your neighbor decides to have a 4 a.m. nightcap on their balcony like ours, you’ll hear it. Given all of the activity on the street, that’s better than it could be. And, given how comfortable the beds with luxurious down toppers are, you might not notice.

The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach, inspired by its rich history and landmark structure

is the essence of Miami’s splendor, inviting visitors to one of the country’s most enticing cities. On the oceanfront in Miami Beach, enjoy all-day dining, a luxury spa, and 20,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space.

The luxury hotel experience includes:

  • A full-service spa that offers a rejuvenation hideaway amid Miami’s activity.

With its assortment of premium services, this oceanfront hotel pays homage to the city’s culture and history after a thorough transformation. After a complete makeover, the prestigious and historic resort reopened its doors in January 2020.
