Stratton Mountain Long Trail Hike

There has to be at least one trek on this list of things to do in Stratton, Vermont. What better Way to go outside than to climb Stratton Mountain? Stratton Mountain via Long Trail is one of the most popular paths in the region.

With 7.6 miles and just under 1800 feet of elevation gain, this is one of the more demanding walks. It’s an out-and-back trek, but the view from the summit is well worth it. Remember to bring your camera!

This trek takes between four and five hours to complete on average, so plan accordingly. It’s preferable to start a lengthy path like this early in the morning so you can return around midday. Because the trail is popular, you’ll almost certainly encounter several other hikers along the Way!

In the winter, go tubing.

Stratton Mountain Adventures

They like the winter! They reside in New England, so loving winter is much simpler than fighting it. The winters may last up to 5 months, but they have yet to experience them. A warm period arrives, and most melt away. The yard is more fall-like than winter-like. They chose to go to Vermont for a week of outdoor fun this year because there was no winter. Vermont, they hoped, would provide the winter joy they needed.

We’re Coming

They opted to visit Stratton Mountain Resort since they had limited time and wanted to cram in as much winter fun as possible. Stratton Mountain Resort provides a wide range of outdoor sports, including Nordic and Alpine skiing and snowboarding, as well as fat biking and snowshoeing. They were set on having a proper winter adventure week!

The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland

Upon arrival at Stratton Hamlet, it appeared they had been transferred to a Swiss town. A giant clock tower at the mountain’s foot was the focal point for various stores and eateries—a cobblestone route weaves among the businesses, allowing you to visit each one. The surroundings heighten my innate eagerness to see what there is to see. They fell in love with Stratton before they ever got on the mountain to ski!

Having Fun on the Slopes

The mountain, at 3,875 feet, is stunning, albeit a little scary, for the first day of skiing this year. If you’re used to freezing to death on lengthy, sluggish ski lifts like us, you’ll enjoy the speedy, pleasant journey up the mountain in Stratton’s gondola.

Gondolas are fantastic! They started with a lengthy, twisting green (easy) track down. Mike’s Way is my favorite type of path. It is a significant route that winds through the woods and offers several vistas.

Skiing throughout the week is ideal.

After lunch, they returned to the mountain and explored some of the 97 routes; this mountain was massive! They discovered another long, simple path named Interstate that crossed the mountain and connected us to numerous lifts to explore different mountain regions. Skiing throughout the week is the greatest! They could appreciate the trails because they avoided the weekend crowd.

The legs wore out quickly, so they boarded the shuttle bus back to the hotel. The fact that you don’t have to drive or walk far with your ski equipment is a significant advantage of Stratton. They make it simple. Their shuttle arrived every 10 minutes and dropped us off outside the hotel. Everyone they encountered at Stratton, from the bus drivers to the lift operators to the wait staff, was kind and helpful.
