Map of the Heavenly Trail Ski Resort

First, go around the Powder Bowl Express lift, hitting the Waterfall run’s bumps. Then, take the Sky Chair to the peak and zoom down Ellie’s and High Five’s fast groomers. It’s now time for a little trek. Evaluating the best ski resorts in Lake Tahoe is essential for a thrilling journey. Traverse SkyLine path to the bottom of Milky Way Bowl (because of its breadth, Heavenly takes some crossing to go from California to Nevada and back). Unclick just beyond the sign on SkyLine Trail up Monument Peak, following the boot pack Tahoe’s highest in-bounds terrain at 10,067 feet. Drop down the center of Milky Way Bowl, or make your way to the skier’s right into Mott and Killebrew canyons.

If you want to escape the agro conditions in Mott and Killebrew but still have some off-piste fun, go to Nevada Woods and The Burn, where burned trees from a fire create starkly magnificent vistas and powder stashes await those who are prepared to investigate. Finish with a run down The Face or an East Bowl Woods tree run down to the California lodge.

The Face, located just off the California base, is a steep double-black mogul route. It descends 1,700 feet into the similarly complex Gunbarrel and East Bowl moguls. These are the bump courses made famous by Glen Plake, a former hot-dogger who hosts the annual Gunbarrel 25 event here, which pushes skiers to finish 25 thigh-burning laps.
