What ought families to pack for Camp?
They advise soft-sided baggage for effective packing. Along with bedding or sleeping bags and pillows for your family, you’ll also need to pack beach, dish, and bath towels. For children, we advise Coppertone Bug & Sun Lotion. Some of these things can be purchased at the camp store.
You’ll have to go to Minocqua or Woodruff to buy groceries for your food. The cabins come equipped with a refrigerator, a four-burner gas range, an oven, a microwave, a coffee maker, a toaster, pots and pans, and other kitchenware. For outdoor cooking, the Camp offers a grill. In the camp store, you can buy things like milk, bread, eggs, drink, pizza, candy, and chips. YMCA Summer Family Camp has miles of fantastic hiking paths, two gorgeous sandy beaches (one facing east for the morning light, one facing west for the afternoon sun), multipurpose playing fields, a leisure lodge, and so on. Throughout the day, a variety of group and solitary activities are planned, including fishing, sailing, swimming, waterskiing, arts and crafts, ropes courses, and more.
Facilities and Cabins
Choose from a variety of cabin styles to choose the one that’s right for your family. Most of our cabins can sleep up to twelve people and feature a mix of single and bunk beds. While Deluxe and Regular Cabins use three common bathroom structures with contemporary plumbing and one split shower house, Premier Cabins offer attached bathrooms.
In their dining hall, delectable meals are provided in a family-style setting. The least formal meal of the day, breakfast, is served to start at 7:00 a.m. and includes a hot option in addition to cereal, toast, oatmeal, and fresh fruit. Both lunch and dinner are offered between 12:30 and 6:00 p.m. At Family Camp, there is an adult supper on Thursday night, while the kids have pizza and a sleepover. There is a West Beach Party barbecue for the whole family on Sunday night at Family Camp.
Programs
You can choose to go fishing, hiking, sailing, swimming, waterskiing, doing arts and crafts, completing the ropes course, and other activities during the day. Every evening, join us for planned events, including Casino Night, Game Night, Trivia Challenge, Night Ropes Course, and more.
The tot program caters to the youngest children and is available every day from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Each day’s activities include everything from athletics to water activities to the arts.
Additionally, there are events specifically designed for adults, families, older kids, and teenagers. The camper vs. staff softball game is one of the major planned activities for the whole family. Every year, campers and staff compete to win the trophy and earn bragging rights for the next year.
What kind of accommodations are there?
Families spend their time in secluded cabins. There are two doors and screened windows with shutters in every cottage. All cabins have power, although typically only one outlet. Bringing a power strip will allow you to use more outlets, which is an excellent idea.
What kinds of animals will we see on the island?
Numerous bird species, squirrels, deer, spiders, bugs, frogs, small snakes, salamanders, and, with any luck, the odd sighting of bald eagles can all be found there. Basically, anything you might anticipate finding in a forested suburban environment.
What am I going to sleep on?
The beds in the cabins will be your own. Most cabins have two single beds and at least five bunk beds, all of which are twin-sized. Requirements for more bunks or single beds are possible, but they will depend on the beds that can be moved to accommodate the requests. A request does not imply that it will be granted.
Family Camp for a Day
The dining room serves breakfast in a buffet manner between 7 and 9 a.m. Cereal, both hot and cold, bagels and English muffins are always on hand. There will also be a daily entrée offered (pancakes, French toast, waffles, bacon, sausage, etc.). Up to 8:30 a.m., omelets and eggs can also be ordered.
In their dining hall, lunch and dinner are served family style. Come and take part in one of the highlights of Camp. Along with a full salad bar, a daily entrée and dessert are served.
Evening Schedule
The family is welcome to attend a new program every night. In the past, events have ranged from campfires to West Beach Parties, Adult Dinners, Movie Nights, Cupcake Wars, Trivia Nights, Project Runway Evenings, and more.
For anyone of any age, there is always something happening and something to do. See what all the excitement is about by taking a family trip unlike any other you’ve ever taken.
