Adventurous. Interactive. Loving. Joyous. Peaceful. Caring. Safe. Unique. These are the words the kids chose when asked to sum up Sandy Spring Friends School in just one word. You will understand how much these words genuinely mean if you spend time with them. Every day, they demonstrate their dedication to transformative education and experiential learning. You may hear students laughing and chatting as they travel from building to building and room to room between classes as you stroll throughout their lovely campus. You can sense the students’ laser-like focus as they take notes and work through challenging fundamental questions, bridging what they already know with what they still need to learn. Teachers might be seen carefully crafting multimodal exams, while coaches can be seen getting ready for the team practice before the next important game. You can hear student performers rehearsing for the upcoming show as well as the excited squeals of kindergarteners finding frogs and tadpoles beside the pond. Additionally, the homemade oven near their working farm occasionally emits the aroma of pizza baking. Sandy Spring Friends School education is a multi-sensory experience right here at their house on Norwood Road!

At SSFS, teachers and students collaborate to lead and learn. You’ll discover that both on and off campus, the students have opinions on crucial issues. They develop their voices via a dynamic, demanding curriculum that informs and challenges them, as well as through dependable connections with teachers who recognize each student’s individual worth. As they affirm and promote the variety of the students, professors, and staff, the Quaker principles drive them to put forth a lot of effort to foster a sense of belonging on the campus. As good as they are, they also continue to be receptive to the quiet periods of reflection that result in fresh insights and ways to proceed.

Sandy Springs’s Aerial Adventure Forest Summer Camp

The Adventure Park at Sandy Springs, which debuted in 2011 as one of the first Swiss-style Adventure Parks in the nation, has expanded to become the biggest artificial outdoor climbing park in the entire globe. There are about 250 different climbing and zipping challenges available in The Adventure Forest and The Labyrinth together.

The Aerial Adventure Forest, which incorporates climbing, zip lines, and combinations of the challenge bridges and zip lines, is effectively an obstacle course in the trees. The 15 trails of Sandy Spring’s Adventure Park are color-coded, with purple being the easiest and rising 12 to 20 feet in the air, while double black diamond is the most challenging and rises 65 feet. The US’s largest aerial climbing facility is here.

The Labyrinth is a cutting-edge pole-based climbing structure that debuted in 2013 and offered many of the same challenges as the Aerial Adventure Forest but on a smaller scale. The Labyrinth is distinctive in that the entire building is offered for private rental by groups and parties of 7 and older.

Aerial park for trees

The Aerial Forest Park (AFP) is a novel idea in the US, but it has quickly gained popularity among outdoor enthusiasts of all ages in Europe (France, Switzerland, England, Austria, and Germany). Strength, endurance, and confidence are developed through engaging in healthful outdoor activities with families, friends, and individuals. They give everyone a chance to take in the great outdoors and the splendor of nature.

These parks have tiny platform courses built on different elevations in the trees. Participants move from platform to platform while wearing safety harnesses over a variety of bridge types that connect the platforms and serve as obstacles. The parks function with almost no detrimental environmental effects, and the trees—their most valuable resource—are well-kept and safeguarded.

A wonderful day trip

If you manage a day camp or overnight camp during the summer, you are aware that you must plan at least one week’s worth of fun activities for your campers. Why not take them on a day excursion filled with incredible adventures?

The pleasure of venturing beyond their comfort zone and climbing to the tree tops can be experienced by campers of all ages. Watch as your campers push themselves, support one another, and gain confidence as they go.
Give your campers an adventure they won’t soon forget!
