Children Depart For Spa Summer Camp

Parents in San Francisco take their children to the spa. Elementary school students from urban areas can study the finer points of stress reduction by enrolling in the weeklong Spa Camp at Live Oak School for $150. They blend citric acid, cornstarch, and baking soda in a classroom they dubbed “the laboratory” to create bath bombs that fizz when dropped into the tub. Beeswax is melted to make body lotion and lip balm, and almond oil is poured over rock salt to make foot scrub. They use gardenia, lavender, dewberry, or spearmint essence to flavor their works. After spending a week concocting concoctions, pajama-clad Live Oak campers treated one another to spa treatments in a classroom they transformed into “Spa Oaks,” complete with stations for facials, manicures, a relaxation area with plush pillows for massages, a yoga corner, and a registration desk with a bell. The concept was developed this year by Spa Camp teacher Emily Travis as a method to teach kids a little bit about chemistry and measurements as well as to get them thinking about relaxation early on, so they have a better chance of becoming well-balanced adults. While the majority of the estimated 6 million children attending summer camp this year are hiking rather than moisturizing, more spa camps have started to appear at specialty and fitness camps across the nation in recent years. This is true even though at least one child psychiatrist claims that spa camping teaches young girls to worry about their appearance. Travis is clear that the goal of her workshop is to teach urban youth how to create their own relaxation aids.

5 Advantages Of Spa Camp For Children

Summer time off. It’s certainly the majority of children’s favorite time of the academic year! However, it poses significant difficulties for parents. Many parents find that sending their kids to summer camp fills their time with wonderful, productive activities. Here are five good reasons to send your kids to a spa summer camp.

  1. Maintaining Routines

Although it is generally acknowledged that children require downtime, the effects of summer vacation on their routines can be rather challenging. Consider this. Your children must get up at a certain time each day throughout the school year, attend school for seven or eight hours, and then return home to continue their activities until it is time to go to bed again. Kids’ summer vacation typically effectively wrecks that, but a camp, especially a day camp, can maintain that routine.

  1. Addressing Daycare Issues

Many parents find it difficult to take time off of work to spend the summer with their kids. Although some people might take a week off here and there for family vacations, it is practically difficult to take a summer vacation. A summer camp is a terrific way to solve this problem and give the kids something to do other than watch television all day at a friend’s, relative’s, or neighbor’s house! Additionally, parents may feel secure in the knowledge that their kids are being watched over and that onsite medical assistance is available in case of need.

  1. Acquiring Fresh Skills

The majority of day camps are specialized, putting their main emphasis on sports, music, or even the arts. Your child will undoubtedly learn things at summer camp that they would never have at home. Fitness camps, for instance, frequently provide your child with the details they need to make better diet and/or exercise decisions in addition to assisting them in getting in shape while other kids are seated in front of their televisions and consuming junk food. In fact, some parents enroll their children in a variety of camps for the duration of their summer vacation so they can expose them to as many diverse experiences as possible.

  1. Interacting

A camp broadens your child’s social circle, whereas school is the first actual location they get to meet new people. There will be kids from various towns and school districts, giving them all access to a larger circle of friends. Your child will have the chance to make friends with other children who share their interests when they attend a specialized summer camp, which is a wonderful way to build relationships.

Too much enjoyment!

Above all else, summer camp should be enjoyable. Giving students time to rest their minds is the entire point of summer break. A camp is intended to be a place that children want to go, even though it will teach them new skills or help them hone ones they already possess. Not only do good camps have excellent facilities and engaging activities, but they are also destinations that kids adore because they have a great time while they are there.

F.A.Q.

Are spas beneficial for kids?

Yes! An enjoyable spa day helps strengthen relationships between parents and children.

What are the advantages of a spa?

Spa treatments can also increase the body’s immunological response, decrease bodily inflammation, and improve circulation. Going to a spa to unwind and be pampered can also boost your self-confidence and mental clarity.

Do massages for kids promote growth?

Promotes development and growth

Kids’ massages can give them tactile stimuli that encourage growth and development. A 2004 study indicated that massage could help preterm newborns develop and gain weight while preventing other growth-related issues.

How long may children stay in a spa?

If a child is old enough to use a hot tub, they shouldn’t stay in it longer than five minutes at a time, especially while the temperature is at its highest setting of 104 degrees. Longer soaks would be possible if the spa temperature was lowered to 98 degrees, but never for a lengthy of 15 minutes at a time.
