Summer Day Camp In Pingry
The expansive, gorgeous campus offers many indoor and outdoor activities for an amazing summer vacation! We have activities for kids aged three to 13! The summer day camp program has a full schedule with everything from swimming and sports to performing arts, scavenger hunts for Junior campers (children 3-6 12) and Senior campers (ages Kindergarten Graduate-13). Pingry blends the best of athletics, the arts, games, and enrichment programs with skilled counselors and coaches, making our campers adore coming to The Pingry School over the summer.
Junior Pingry Summer Camp (Pre-K, 3 to 6 12 years old)
“My child always has a smile on her face when she gets home. I adore the individualized care she receives at Pingry! This is just one of our wonderful responses from our 2011 Summer Survey. Depending on their age and maturity, children are divided into small groups, each with its own area and staff. Two adult teachers and two or three assistants are present in each group (a ratio of one counselor for every 3 to 4 campers). With a jam-packed schedule of arts and crafts, theater, dance, and private swimming lessons, we keep Junior campers occupied! For the benefit of Junior campers attending summer camp, an outdoor pool is constructed on site. Lunch is provided every day and includes both hot and cold dishes and fresh produce from Pingry’s school garden! There are other options for transportation, early drop-off, and after-care. Campers use our large sporting facilities for activities like T-ball and soccer. A family cookout, carnival, talent show, swim day, magic show, clowns, theme days, and more are examples of special days. Writing, reading, math, and other abilities will be practiced daily as part of our Jumpstart Academic Skills Program to get your kid ready for kindergarten with a qualified instructor.
Adult Pingry Summer Camp (Kindergarten Graduate to age 13)
Senior campers receive a thorough curriculum that is catered to their age and are divided into groups of about 15 campers, according to grade and gender, who are overseen by an adult teacher and one or two helpers. The camp provides all necessary gear for all activities, and each camper receives a summer-long locker. Sports, games, swimming lessons that include basic lifesaving techniques, and a wide range of other activities, including computers, models, ceramics, and arts and crafts, are all part of their daily agenda. Theme Days, Family Cookout and Carnival, Magic Show, Scavenger Hunt, Video Truck, July 4th Spirit Week, Dance Contest on the Big Screen, Cooking Class for the Older Campers, and more are just a few of the special events.

Pingry’s Big Blue Minis Summer Camp: Why Attend?
Short Hills Campus of BBS Minis
- Is it a result of our gorgeous, recently refurbished campus with air conditioning?
- We have a fantastic playground with a basketball court, a little grass field, and lots of shade.
- Or perhaps it’s the delectable lunches Sage Dining Services serves up using Pingry kitchens and food from nearby farms?
For children who will start preschool in the autumn, Pingry’s Big Blue Minis camp is the ideal introduction to camp (ages 3 – 5). Circle time, arts and crafts, music, storytime, puppet play, dramatic play, sensory activities, manipulative play, and water play are some of the age-appropriate activities. The minis will use the area of the air-conditioned mini and our recently rebuilt playground. Water tables, sandboxes, sprinklers, bubbles, balls, sports, gardening, and painting are all examples of outdoor play. Each child’s general development, independence, teamwork, willingness to try new things, and forming lifelong connections are fostered by this program.
The Pingry Summer Camp At The Pottersville Campus
Pingry is pleased to introduce our new Pottersville Campus, a welcoming K–12 setting that fosters relationships and challenges both students and teachers to dream higher. The Pottersville Campus of Pingry offers more extensive programming to enhance our students’ learning.
- Immersive activities, such as a brief overnight stay.
- Learning-by-doing instruction that is rigorous and experientially based deepens classroom learning.
- Employee housing to help recruit and keep outstanding educators.
Short Hills and Basking Ridge may both be reached by car in 40 and 20 minutes, respectively, from the 83-acre Pottersville Campus. It is an expansion of these current campuses, giving K–12 students access to one central location for the first time.
Students can safely take risks, be intellectually courageous, deal with disappointments, persevere with assignments, and develop diverse and unique pathways on the Pottersville Campus. It has a number of community and collaboration spaces, classrooms and labs, a performing arts complex, a communal “quad,” and cutting-edge athletic fields. It also has an indoor athletic facility. This campus expedites the tasks outlined in our 2018 Strategic Plan, allowing us to realize the goals this plan sets forth for putting students first while also realizing parts of our long-term campus buildings and grounds plan in a cost- and time-efficient manner.

Large Blue Kids Day Camp in the Summer
Inky Blue Summer is aware that learning occurs when it is contextualized, experiential, and deliberate. Campers will explore activity zones this summer that are intended to pique their interest. The age-appropriate curriculum has been developed by enthusiastic specialized teachers in each discipline to broaden campers’ horizons. Each activity has a counselor on-site to help kids focus on learning and growth. Rotations differ and may consist of the following:
- Adventures at the STEAM Arts Lab Outdoors
- 2. Big Blue Summer Day Camp Trainee Counselors (LIT)
- Day Camp for Big Blue Summer Leaders in Training
Middle schoolers may learn more about leadership responsibilities at camp and hone the abilities needed to become our future CITs and Counselors through our Leaders-In-Training program, all while having a blast over the summer! An expert or a member of the camp leadership team leads all LIT programming while counselors are always present to monitor LITs. LITs rotate through fewer activities than younger campers do during their sessions. This gives more independent LITs adequate time in each activity to set their own direction and take charge of their exploration. The format of projects encourages LITs to work together and solve problems in a variety of settings, such as the STEAM art studio and the swimming pool.
While we may assign LITs the duty of making camp exciting for other campers, they are never held accountable for their safety and well-being in the same way that a staff member would. The week-in-review video project, reading to Kinders, and a weekly “LIT Picnic” with the Minis to assist them in getting used to the Outdoor Adventures area are just a few of the LIT projects planned for this summer. The LIT group’s own project ideas, which are based on their interests, past experiences, and our camp culture, motivate us every summer. Team-building exercises, communication exercises, safety, and first aid instruction, game theory, and mentoring opportunities are all possibly included in leadership training. Although swim lessons are not part of the LITs’ routine, they do participate in optional free swims on Mondays and encourage beginning Kinder swimmers on Wednesdays. LITs who want daily instruction can forego community time and get a session when they get there in the morning. If your child is interested in taking swimming lessons, do let us know so that we can staff the pool appropriately.
A Blog For Pingry Summer Camp
My name is Rayna Landa, and I’m proud to be a part of the Pingry Summer team. I’m from Springfield, New Jersey, and I’ve always loved going to camps. A few more about me: I graduated from Pennsylvania State University this past May after majoring in sociology and public policy in education. Being a part of the Pingry Summer team for almost a year now has been a great experience for me. When I’m not assisting with the curation of a Summer newsletter or a Pingry-X Instagram post, I’m taking part in a one-year Social Justice fellowship with the Washington, DC-based Avodah organization.
I am able to work full-time as a program associate for BUILD Metro DC, thanks to my fellowship. This organization strives to give every student, regardless of race, socioeconomic status, or neighborhood, the chance to collect the skills necessary for success in the 21st-century economy through the empowering experience of managing a real business. I collaborate with instructors and students every day to educate and practice entrepreneurship as a means of experiential learning. It was at camp that I first realized the importance of these kinds of experiences, which is why I decided to work with the amazing Pingry Summer team to continue enhancing them. I spent 12 summers completely submerged in the world of my camp, exploring, embracing, and participating in nature, my closest friends, and new experiences. Pingry Summer gives me my daily dose of camp all year long; it’s a place that encourages inquiry and participation, and it’s teeming with the things that campers crave most—fun and friends!
The approaching summer is beyond fantastic! The cherry blossom season has officially arrived in Washington, DC, and the air is just starting to become thick with pink petals and strong pollen. In addition to having a pollen allergy, I am eager for summer, the great outdoors, and the fantastic adventures that lie ahead. After working somehow for more than a year, I am hankering for experiential adventures. I wish I could skip a few months and join the wonderful outdoor adventures, magic-making, archery, and ax-throwing that the Pingry team is nurturing. I’m really excited to share this blog with you all and talk about the subject that I love the most: CAMP!
F.A.Q.
What if I want to send my kids to a specialty camp for half a day but require care for them all day?
No issue. We take pride in providing options for every age and interest at Pingry Summer. In the morning and afternoon, many campers sign up for different camps. To assurance your kid’s safety, these changes take place after lunch and are overseen by camp employees. You can ask for a Personalized Plan from our registrar or get in touch with us by live chat, email, or phone to learn more about camps and alternatives that suit your child’s schedule and interests.
Does the Pingry Summer day camp provide lunch?
Camps and locations provide different lunch alternatives. For information on lunch options, consult the pages of each program.
Does my doctor need to sign any health documents before my child may go camping?
No. You must fill out our electronic health history form, but a physician’s signature is not necessary. For some partner programs, separate health forms could be necessary.
What will happen if my child doesn’t want to go to Pingry?
To register for a Pingry Summer camp, you do not need to be a current Pingry student. Many of our campers are not Pingry students and come from a variety of nearby places. The purpose of counselor training is to assist campers in forming (and maintaining!) friendships.
Can my child attend Mini Camp?
Before starting camp, mini campers must be between the ages of 3 and 4 and totally potty trained. Your child should be ready for a day without a nap if you intend to sign them up for an additional afternoon program.
What if my child requests to be placed in a program or day camp with a friend?
If a request is made for a child who is in the same age group as another child, we will try to fulfill it.
Why is it impossible for my Mini Camper to snooze or use a diaper?
As a result of Pingry Summer’s lack of a daycare provider license, our staff is not allowed to assist with toileting or provide a nap area. Your child will receive direction from staff while they change before and after swimming.
