Benefits Of Day Camp Mohawk Attendance
School camp is often the highlight of the academic year for many youngsters. It’s an opportunity to learn outside the four walls of the classroom and participate in extracurricular activities. For students, being away from home might be difficult (and parents). But going to camp is a significant accomplishment, and it has many advantages.
Fostering independence
Students can make decisions on their own during time away from home, away from their parent’s scrutiny. On camp, students can practice crucial life skills, including making their own decisions about what to eat, what to wear, and how to make their bed. Students are encouraged to employ their organizational, problem-solving, and self-management abilities while at camp. Greater independence results from making personal decisions.
Increases Confidence and Resilience:
Students can take part in activities that are unfamiliar to them. They might be able to overcome their concerns and anxieties if they succeed at something in a new setting. This can be seen, for instance, in a student who attempts to climb a rock wall while being frightened of heights. They might rise to the challenge of a novel encounter and discover their potential. Personal challenges, as a result, encourage personal progress.
Establishes Relationships
A school camp’s ability to foster new or strengthen existing connections is one of its biggest advantages. In new settings and situations, friendships are both affirmed and put to the test. This also applies to a student’s interaction with a teacher. When you return to the classroom, your learning may benefit from these connections.
Enhances Social Skills
Students can hone their leadership and team-building skills at camps. They can work on their communication skills and show others they care, support, and understand them. Another crucial life skill is the ability to work successfully with people toward a common objective.
Increases physical fitness
Fitness is frequently encouraged in camps. Students might engage in activities that are unfamiliar to them, like canoeing or hiking. In addition to being exposed to activities that they might find interesting outside of camp, students are given a chance to step outside of their comfort zones. Students may be active and involved in hands-on activities while at camp because they are not surrounded by screens or other technology. Additionally, this might benefit mental health.
Strengthens the relationship between teachers and students.
The AFL Max Education Team plans and oversees everything during an overnight Camp Max event, giving teachers a break and support during what can be a trying time for them in the classroom otherwise. Given that our camps are created using a useful four-quarter format by teachers for teachers, it is a simple and practical solution for educators. This gives teachers the chance and time to engage and form stronger, better relationships with their students.
Overall, summer camps enable adolescents to develop emotionally, socially, and physically.

Who are the counselors at Camp Mohawk?
The vast majority of our day camp staff are former Mohawk campers who have progressed from being campers to CITs, Junior Counselors, and Counselors! These gifted young women couldn’t envision not dedicating another year to camp after years of devoting their summers to Mohawk and its campers. Additional local personnel from other camps and youth initiatives have been hired by us. We’re thrilled to have so many knowledgeable, experienced counselors available to provide your campers with the summer of a lifetime.
