What should I bring for my child to camp?
Hang on to the camp’s curriculum. We will provide a list of what each camper needs to bring as the summer approaches. To ensure that everything your kid owns can be returned home at the end of the day, please carefully identify every item with their complete name. A pre-camp email with links to further in-depth instructions about what to bring will be sent to you the week before your first session of camp.
Do you distinguish children by grade level and age?
Yes. You will be required to enter your camper’s rising grade throughout the registration process. This will determine their age group and the programs that are offered at the next grade level. For campers of all ages, this will guarantee a developmentally appropriate curriculum and experience.
How many counselors are there to campers at headfirst summer camps?
They offer a special setting for each Headfirst Summer Camp program so that students can learn and receive training both individually and in small groups. To maintain consistency and appropriate management, a leadership team member oversees and manages each particular program. They strive to maintain an in-group ratio of roughly 6:1 for our younger kids. This ratio is 8:1 for incoming kindergarteners and first-graders and 10:1 for older campers.
Each location also includes a Leadership Team and additional team members that are specifically assigned to each program, in addition to the group counselors.
The ratio of additional pool staff, lifeguards, and Aquatics Lead to campers participating in the instructional swim is roughly 3:1.
Management of inclement weather.
At all times, safety comes first, and we pay close attention to the weather. Outdoor camp programs are promptly taken inside if they hear or see a thunderstorm approaching because they take great care to make sure that all outdoor camp programs are secure.
Where do you take precautions to avoid the summer heat?
They are well aware of how exhausting the summer heat can be for campers. Each camp program has constant access to water, and students are encouraged to take water breaks every 15-20 minutes or so. We consider the temperature, humidity index, and air quality index to be important factors. Participants will be required to take necessary and prolonged breaks throughout the day, an extended lunch break, plenty of water, misting fan breaks, and lower impact activities throughout the day on exceptionally hot days and for campers who spend most of their time playing outdoors.
