Studying in a city that attracts so many creative professionals gives students access to prestigious companies and well-known professionals, as well as an extremely diverse and culturally rich city where they can take supervised trips to explore everything from the breathtaking beaches to the Hollywood Hills. Students also learn from a top-notch faculty of professionals who are still involved in their fields. In addition to educating students for further study in their field of study, the instructors give students a unique perspective on the reality of success in the entertainment industry. Simply put, students obtain an intensive, practical education in the performing and visual arts in the center of the entertainment industry by attending an NYFA Camp in Los Angeles, including summer camps and weekend camps during the school year.

Additional Academic Activities

Residential campers have time to make use of the advantages the housing residence has to offer, despite the strenuous daily schedule of the camp. All campers are welcome to participate in planned evening and weekend activities, which can include going to movies, theme parks, and of course, the beach. All activities are open to commuter students, although there may be an additional fee.

Housing

With the New York Film Academy, arrangements can be made to include lodging during their program at the prices listed in Housing Options. The New York Film Academy does not require campers to live there in order to participate in the class. In order to participate in our residential program under the care and supervision of the New York Film Academy residential staff, campers who need accommodation must do so. They must obtain alternative housing facilities. Other than the facility that will be housing our residential campers, campers who opt out of our residential program are welcome to live independently at any other facility. Students who live independently and are not in the care of NYFA outside of class hours will be regarded as commuting students. Families of commuter campers are required to organize daily transportation and/or supply a letter authorizing the student to go to and from campus alone.

Transportation

Staff from NYFA will meet travelers at the Los Angeles International Airport upon request. Additionally, campers are free to drive themselves to the campus.

Food/Meals

Each morning, breakfast will be served to students living on campus in the housing residence lobby. Cereal, milk, orange juice, toast, bagels, yogurt, fruit, eggs, and waffles are just a few of the hot and cold breakfast foods. Residential students will receive lunches from a catering company, while commuter students will have the option of purchasing a lunch package. Residential students will get a variety of meals. Every night, campers will have the option to buy meals, whether the counselors take the group somewhere close to the housing house or the group goes on an evening excursion somewhere.

Students who commute may purchase the lunch plan for meals with our caterer, bring their own lunch, or leave campus with parental consent.

Camps For Visual & Performing Arts In Los Angeles

Teens’ Guide to the Campus in Los Angeles

On the Universal Studios backlot, gain experience in acting, writing, and photography.

The New York Film Academy is the only owner and operator of all camp programs; Universal Studios is not involved in any way.

Teenagers who are keen to learn more about or advance their studies in their chosen industry do so against the rich backdrop of Los Angeles, which offers camps in Filmmaking, Acting for Film, Photography, Screenwriting, Documentary Filmmaking, 3D Animation, Music Video, and Game Design.

In Los Angeles

Los Angeles enjoys the ideal climate, has a thriving and diversified population, and is inextricably linked to the movie business. Los Angeles stands up to its reputation, from Chinatown and the Sunset Strip to Hollywood, Malibu, and Westwood. Group outings in previous summers have included visits to Six Flags, Santa Monica Beach, the Walk of Fame in Hollywood, and Universal Studios, among other places.

Backlot of Universal Studios

The New York Film Academy welcomes aspiring storytellers from around the globe into the studio. At the NYFA Summer Camp, students gain first-hand experience while living and breathing filmmaking rather than being on the outside looking in. Over 415 acres, offices, lanes, inner sound stages, and exterior movie sets make up Universal Studios. We have made arrangements with Universal Studios to film our in-class production exercises for our film, acting, photography, music video, and screenplay camps on their prestigious and well-known backlot, a setting that is literally made up of the communities of the world. A dusty Mexican mansion, a grand Roman square, a New York alley right out of the 1930s, and a street lined with Wild West-era saloons can all be seen while driving around the parking lot. A number of lakes, an antique New England street, and a Renaissance courtyard can all be found close by, making this summer camp experience absolutely unique.

Supervision

The New York Film Academy matches campers with roommates based on age, program, and the findings of a brief questionnaire that is provided to families before the camp. On the questionnaire, campers who are attending with friends or family members can specify where they would wish to stay. At the apartment, counselors live, oversee campers, organize activities, and do 10:00 p.m. curfew checks each night. Counselors have previous camp experience as well as/or college-level residential education experience. Numerous counselors have backgrounds in the performing or visual arts and delight in imparting their knowledge to children.

All counselors undergo thorough background checks, including criminal and driving records checks, through the biggest employee screening agency in the country.

Primarily on the Universal backlot, campers film their productions in a variety of settings, including New York Street, Europe, the Old West, Colonial Street, and others. Our additional facilities are used for interior filmmaking. Teaching assistants are always in charge of small crews of 3–4. For students living on campus, weekend activities are required and usually involve day trips. Universal Studios, Six Flags, Santa Monica Pier, Hollywood, and occasionally Disneyland are a few of these. These outings are attended by and overseen by counselors. Additionally, there are optional activities almost every weeknight. These have previously included, among others: going to the movies, museums, theaters, shopping, bowling, and laser tag. The facility is home to 14 counselors, on average, who organize and oversee these outings.
