Wayne — To commemorate the completion of the Warren section of the Western Reserve Greenway Bike Trail, city representatives, Trumbull County MetroParks staff, and locals gathered on Friday at the Warren Greenway Trailhead. Ada Callahan Sutter of Warren, who passed away in 2012, had a part of the path named in her honor. According to Kohli, Sutter had long supported the trail’s construction in Warren.
When we first started, when we first suggested it was a wonderful concept, “she was one of the very early public persons that came forward,” Kohli added. “She was able to rally the support of the general public and all of the participating lawmakers. The route is another “true gem” that residents of Warren may enjoy, according to John Brown, chairman of the Trumbull County MetroParks board.

Western Reserve Benefits From Bike Tour Greenway
DARREN, Ohio — On June 10, the Western Reserve Greenway cycling trail will host the World Of Wildlife Bicycle Tour, or WOW 2017.Riders can choose from routes that are 20, 40, or 69 miles long and travel through extensive wetlands that are a haven for wildlife and numerous rare and endangered plant species. Also included in the route is a stop at the Mosquito Lake Wildlife Area. The Western Reserve Greenway Phase Four, the segment that will be finished between Warren and Niles, will benefit from the earnings of the ride in Trumbull County. To collect more money, the ride organizers are holding a raffle with items provided by Bike Nash bar, one of the event sponsors, as well as other local businesses and organizations. Tickets for the raffle will be offered upon registration. The Trumbull Campus of Kent State University’s Technology Building will be open from 7:30 through 10:00 am for event registration.
At rest spots throughout the route and at the end of the ride, food and drinks will be available. Volunteers from the Greenway Bike Patrol will offer assistance to travelers. Major work is being done this summer on a heavily frequented route in Warren County State Park. According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, park visitors will be impacted until mid-summer by the repair of three bridges and other trail maintenance projects along the scenic path in Little Miami State Park in Warren County. It’s a terrible procedure, according to the manager of Little Miami State Park, which includes the picturesque walk along the Little Miami River. Trails & Biking
The Miami Valley Trails’ center node is located in Greene County. There are five routes you can use to get from Xenia Station to the Greene County line. By continuing on, you can reach Ohio cities like Dayton, Cincinnati, Piqua, Urbana, or London. Not quite feeling that ambitious? Take a leisurely bike ride through the wetlands, prairies, and woodlands of Greene County before stopping in Yellow Springs, Cedarville, Jamestown, Spring Valley, or Beavercreek for a cup of coffee, some shopping, or a community festival. Despite the fact that the cross ties have been replaced with asphalt and these multi-use trails now offer one of the most well-liked public recreational opportunities of the modern era, you might mistakenly believe that you can still faintly hear the echo of a steam locomotive whistle on the old B&O or Pennsylvania Railroad. The Greene County countryside and small towns are now traversed on foot, by bicycle, foot, by the run, or by rollerblade, with just the sporadic street crossing serving as a reminder of the presence of motorized traffic.
Description Of The Western Reserve Greenway
Northeastern Ohio’s Ashtabula to Warren are connected by the 43-mile Western Reserve Greenway, which follows a north-south route through a picturesque, largely rural terrain. The first of 12 interpretive markers explaining the significance of northeast Ohio in the Underground Railroad may be seen at Herzog Rotary Park (off Woodman Avenue), where you can start right away. Although the greenway is utilized all year round, snowmobiling is only permitted in Ashtabula County (the northern half of the trail). Cross the historic King Bridge, a steel trestle that once over spanned Clay Street and is now used to travel south. Re-enter the trail’s rural environs south of the town to re-encounter deer, beavers, and a variety of birds, including ducks and wild turkeys. The trail travels through Rock Creek’s east side, a tiny community with a few eateries and a wonderful park next to the creek. You’ll pass a trestle over the named waterway as you leave the neighborhood. There are bump-outs on the bridge that provide a birds-eye perspective of the creek and surroundings below. When the track re-establishes, you pass by shady trees and the sleepy community of Orwell, whose trailhead is situated off Oak Street behind a water tower. One of the real highlights of the Western Reserve Greenway is a stone arch bridge that spans Baughman Creek in Trumbull County.
You will reach the Sunside trailhead after you are back on the trail. Beyond this point, the rail trail continues to North River Road in Warren, where you can join the Garrett Wonders Bike Trail that travels south into the city.
Access to parking and trails-A number of spots along the trail offer parking. For all available alternatives and thorough guidance, view the Trail Link map. On the shared-use trails in the Miami Valley, everyone’s safety comes first. Keep in mind that the trails are shared public spaces, so everyone can enjoy them by being safe and courteous. Therefore, be considerate of other trail users.
Safety Advice: Before crossing the street, stop, scan the area for moving vehicles, and listen! The trail crosses certain roadways with traffic in some places. For trail traffic, these crossroads are typically designated with stop signs; however, motorized traffic that is crossing is not required to stop.
On the left, overtake others. On the path, quicker users should pass slower riders on the left, just like on the road. Use a bell to sound an audible alert or shout, “Passing on your left!” Pets on the path should always be in your control. Pet waste should be removed.
Avoid leaving trash on the trails. Only leave footprints (or tire tracks) and only take photos.
Although there are no helmet regulations for bikers on the trails, this fitting instruction is provided for your convenience.

Western Reserve Greenway Bike Trail
The paved multi-use Western Reserve Greenway route, which runs 16.7 miles through Trumbull County from Bloomfield Township to City of Warren, is unquestionably the most well-liked park MetroPark has to offer. Three trailheads provide access to the trail: Oakfield Station, about a mile east of State Route 45 along Hyde-Oakfield Road in Bristol Township, Sunside Trailhead along State Route 305 in Champion Township, and Lockwood Trailhead along ST RT 87 in Bloomfield Township. The trail travels through open fields, shady forests, and past suburban communities while accommodating bikers, runners, pedestrians, equestrians, and cross-country skiers. The 100-mile Great-Ohio-Lake-To-River Greenway (GOLTRG), a partly finished paved route, is expected to run from Lake Erie in Ashtabula City to the Ohio River in East Liverpool. The Western Reserve Greenway is just one of many trails that make up the GOLTRG.

Greenway A Western Reserve
This 24-mile multi-use linear trail in Trumbull County was created for walking, hiking, biking, and equestrian riding. Over 42 miles of connected path are available, not counting the trail in neighboring counties. Hikers, bikers, horseback riders, inline skaters, and runners may all enjoy this trail as it passes through farmland and lush woodlands, traverses over gently sloping hills, and passes beautiful streams while remaining in close proximity to nature and away from traffic.
The Great Ohio Lake-to-River Greenway, a 100-mile route that is now being built and will eventually cover four counties as it stretches from Ashtabula on Lake Erie to East Liverpool along the Ohio River, uses the abandoned Penn Central 714 rail line to run parallel to State Route 45. There have been more than 70 miles covered.
Speed Manual
Because of the nature of these paths, differing user speeds are common. People with pets and parents with young children move slowly. Photographers of nature are essentially still. Bladers and cyclists are moving even more quickly. Please be aware that the Miami Valley Trails only permit class 1 and class 2 electric bikes. E-bikes in Class 3 are not allowed. When out on the trails, it’s important to know where you fit in with the variety of speeds and who to defer to.

What Is Ohio’s Longest Bike Path?
